Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

1. What is required before climbing?

Before climbing at Inner Peaks, you’ll need to complete the following steps:

  • Fill out an Inner Peaks waiver.
  • Participants under 18 must have a waiver completed by their parent or legal guardian.
  • Attend the in person gym orientation.

2. How do waivers work?

Inner Peaks requires ALL participants to have a waiver on file upon entering the facility and prior to entering the climbing areas. Important: ONLY a PARENT or COURT-APPOINTED guardian may complete an e-waiver for a participant under the age of 18. Hosts of parties cannot sign for other parents’ children. We regret that any participant under the age of 18 without a waiver completed by his or her parent or a court-appointed guardian will not be permitted to participate and will be turned away. We are PROHIBITED from making exceptions to this rule under any circumstances. Waivers can be completed online or at the front desk at our locations. We strongly urged you to take a few minutes and complete the waiver online prior to your visit. If you need help completing the online waiver please call and we can walk you through it.

3. How safe is climbing?

Climbing carries inherent risks, and your safety is your responsibility. While we don’t require helmets indoors, we strongly recommend them for outdoor climbing. Seek professional instruction before attempting climbing. We do offer Intro to Climbing Classes!

4. Who can belay for a participant under 14?

Only an adult can belay for participants under 14. Exceptions may be made by Front Counter Staff or Management in specific situations.

5. What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Avoid short-shorts or jeans. Sweatpants and a shirt or loose-fitting clothing are good options. Climbing shoes can be rented for better traction, and don’t forget to bring socks.

6. How can I give the gift of climbing?

Give the gift of adventure with an Inner Peaks gift certificate! Customize it for any occasion and amount. Options include single visits with gear rental, intro to climbing classes, or visit passes. Visit our Gift Certificates page to order.

7. Does Inner Peaks support community organizations?

Inner Peaks is committed to helping people live more fulfilling lives through fitness and community. We proudly support organizations such as the Carolina Climbers Coalition, American Alpine Club Charlotte Chapter, and Access Fund. Organizations seeking partnerships or support from Inner Peaks should align with our values and work to enhance our community through education, service, or outdoor and environmental advocacy.
