FAQ
- What is the age minimum to compete? There is no minimum age requirement to compete, you just have to meet our general weight requirement, which is 25lbs
- What are the grade ranges for each category?
- Beginner: V0-V2
- Intermediate: V2-V4
- Advanced: V4-V6
- Open: V7+
- All competitors interested in qualifying for Finals must register for the Open category
- Are friends/family allowed to come and spectate? Absolutely! The only reason this hasn’t been advertised in any social posts or on the website is that it was packed the past year, or so I’ve heard, but everyone is more than welcome to come spectate free of charge.
- How exactly does the competition work?
- The Redpoint round will consist of eight to ten boulders for each category. Competitors have the goal of completing the highest quantity of boulders, where each boulder has the same value. Climbs will be peer judged and need two initials to be scored. Every climb will begin with a four-point start, have a bonus zone, and a top zone.
- FINALS: The top six competitors in the Open division will compete in an Onsight format round following the Redpoint round. There will be four climbs for each Open division. Competitors will have five minutes to try and complete each boulder. In each round, the competitor with the most Tops and Zones and with the fewest attempts will be the winner.
Get ready to push your limits and experience the thrill of bouldering as climbers from all levels gather to compete in three categories: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Open. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, this event is open to all climbers eager to showcase their skills and take on challenging routes.
As we celebrate Inner Peaks’ 25th Anniversary, this year’s Queen City Boulder Bash promises to be our biggest and best yet! The competition will be split into two sessions, with the first session running from 12PM – 3PM and the second session from 3PM – 6PM. During the intermission from 6PM – 7PM, our routesetters will be hard at work crafting Finals routes, leading up to the exhilarating Finals from 7PM – 8PM.
Not a competitor? No problem! Spectators are more than welcome to join in the excitement, cheer on the climbers, and immerse themselves in the thrilling atmosphere. Witness incredible feats of strength and agility as climbers tackle the challenging routes, and be a part of the vibrant community that makes the Queen City Boulder Bash an event like no other.
Registration opens on Monday, June 26th, with Early Registration available until July 3rd. Take advantage of the Early Registration incentives, including discounted fees and guaranteed event merchandise. Regular registration will be open from July 4th to July 28th. *Registration for the Open category closes on July 24th*
